For as long as I can remember I have drawn cards for family and friends; always a simple illustration, often personalised or tailor-made for the individual. Over the years the occasions have grown broader: as friends married I made place cards for weddings; as we all settled into new homes I sent drawings of new houses; and, as families around me have grown, I’ve loved dreaming up designs to welcome new babies, cards to mark first birthdays and drawings to celebrate christenings.
Encouraged by those same family members and friends, a hobby has evolved into a new venture, designing greetings cards and other illustrations to order from my desk in a leafy corner of South East London.
Hand drawn with dip pen and ink and painted with watercolours, the emphasis is on the quiet elegance of the drawn line. I’ve always preferred the individual beauty found in imperfections; the rough sketches, the uneven, asymmetrical line - even the stray paint droplet. This taste for imperfection is reflected in my designs so that each card feels like an original painting in your hand.
Personalised and bespoke orders are welcomed and I am always very happy to discuss commissions for all occasions.
